Burn Baby Burn

Well, it seems the fine folks at the Westboro Baptist Church are at it again.  This time they have made plans to picket outside the funeral for the 9 year old victim in this weeks Tuscon shootings.  They claim that "God sent the shooter to deal with idolatrous America."   First you protest at the funerals of gay soldiers all over America....the same soldiers that gave their lives to protect your back wood asses.   And now, you are somehow finding vindication through the tragic death of a 9 year old child?  Are you people freaking serious?  Who can do something so horrible and then in good conscience turn around and say they are doing God's work?  Read the Bible people.  I think you have seriously misinterpreted it.  I don't claim to be a religious expert, but I was raised by a strict Catholic mother, so I have been through the Bible a time or two in my day.  I am pretty sure that spreading hatred and intolerance of others is not a message taught in the Bible.  And while I am not entirely convinced hell exists, I am pretty sure if it does, you are the ones that will be burning there. Do you really have nothing better to do with your lives then drive around the country causing further devastation to those mourning the loss of their loved ones?    I am not going to even attempt to understand your thought process.  I know what I need to know, that you are a group of hate filled, ignorant people who are an absolute thorn in the ass of society.  And kudos to Arizona for passing immediate legislation to prevent your picketing at this innocent child's memorial.  I try to take solace in the fact that the majority of your members come from the same bloodline so more than likely some really faulty genetics is the explanation for why you are such fanatical bigots.  Let the dead rest in peace.  Let their families mourn them.  Your protests aren't making any impression on America....we think you are idiots.  Think about it....if America really cared about your cause, don't you think your church would consist of more members than Uncle Ralph and Aunt Louise?  So take all your cousins back to Kansas and find a new hobby.  No one appreciates your current one.

The Dog Killer, Jesus and The Snowball Mob

Conservative pundit Tucker Carlson recently made a statement that he feels Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Michael Vick should have been executed for his crimes against dogs, and that President Obama's support of Michael Vick was "kind of beyond the pale".  Tucker said he just finds it despicable that we have a President who supports a dog killer.  Gosh, were do I begin here?  There are so many directions I could go.  I guess I will start with the most aggravating point....that this is yet another attempt by a Republican to point the giant conservative finger of blame at the President for something completely irrelevant to his actual job performance.  This is getting ridiculous.  Saying the President endorses dog killing, simply because he showed support to a young man trying to get his life on the right path?  And to top it off, Tucker did what Republicans seem to do very best....he pulled the Jesus card, of course.  Because any good Republican knows that none of their judgemental, narrow minded statements would sound quite the same without being prefaced with the good ole "I am a Christian" line.  Why is it that most people who begin their sentences with "I am a Christian" are usually the ones who act the least like Christians?  Hey Tucker, saying your a Christian right before you act like a douche bag, doesn't make you any less of a douche bag.  And ironically, the person here who actually did behave in a Christian-like manner was President Obama.  Showing compassion and forgiveness to a person who is repenting for their mistakes?  I'd have to say Jesus would probably be pretty proud of the President.  Unfortunately, I can't say the same for you, Tucker.   Let's get serious, Tucker Carlson.  If PETA, the most obnoxiously hardcore of all animal lovers can forgive Michael Vick, why can't you?  PETA even released a statement that the President's phone call was "appropriate".  Your comments are looking more and more like a very weak attempt to recruit another rider on your bandwagon of hate.  But really, is anyone surprised?  After two years of this witch hunt the Republicans are on, I think we've all come to expect these things by now.

The football fan in me just can't let this go without also making a quick comment here about the attack against Vick.  I think it's pretty safe to assume your not a huge sports guy, Tucker....judging by your geeky bow ties and the Donald Trump comb over.  So I'll clue you in on something you probably didn't consider when you so adamantly professed your desire to send Michael Vick to the gas chamber.  The Philadelphia Eagles fans are notably some of the meanest football fans in the NFL.  After all, we are talking about a group people who formed a snowball wielding mob and attacked Santa Claus during a half time show.  These people throw trash at their own players when they lose games-and I'm talking glass bottles, not paper cups.   I can only imagine what they may to do someone who publicly puts a death wish on their star quarterback.  Gosh Tucker, if I were you, I would probably steer clear of Philly.   I have a strong inclination  if those Eagles fans ever get a hold of you, the execution taking place would be yours.  I'll sum it up with some advice for you from the late great Abe Lincoln- Better to remain silent and be thought a fool then to speak out and remove all doubt.   Good advice Tucker...you should consider using it in the future.

As if I needed another reason to hate Rupert Murdoch

So today I hear a story about this couple who were royally screwed by Fox when they were contestants on their new show Million Dollar Drop.  The pair gave a correct answer to the question being asked, but due to faulty research by the whiz kids at Fox, they were told it was an incorrect answer, thus causing them to lose $800,000 in winnings. Fox has now decided they will not compensate the couple for this gigantic blunder, but instead allow the couple the grand opportunity to come back on the show to try their luck again.  Okay, get serious Fox.  First of all, I hope those people tell Fox to shove that offer up their pompous ass.  They could probably slap them with a big fat lawsuit.  People have certainly sued (and won) for much less.  Secondly, if the script was flipped and they had been awarded money for a wrong answer, do you think Fox would just let them keep that money??  If I were a betting gal, I'd bet no.  What a bunch of greedy jerks.  Hey Fox, here's an idea, if you are going to be giving away millions of dollars, try to hire people with the actual ability to check facts correctly.  In what world is this fair?  At the very least, this couple is owed a huge apology.  The statement  released by the shows creator barely even admitted wrong doing for not having accurate information.  It went further to say that "this question was not the deciding question in the game".  Well, I am not a mathematical genius, but if you get 1 million to play with and lose $800,000 because of a mistake that Fox made, it does kind of seem like they screwed you out of a lot of potential winnings.  And while that may not have been the deciding question of the game, it was definitely the question that changed the game, and was without a doubt a huge mistake on Fox's behalf.  I can only hope America will be as annoyed by this as I am and this debacle of show will end as quickly as it began.

"With all due respect Mr. President, please take off the pink tutu"

Okay, okay, so I didn't come up with it, but I must say that Michael Moore did say it perfectly on his late night guest spot.  President Obama, where did you go?  Keeping the Bush tax cuts in place?  Wasn't one of your core campaign promises to repeal them?  Taking nearly 2 years to repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell?  A policy that blatantly discriminated against the gay and lesbian community.  A group of people mind you, that rallied together to help you secure your current job title.  I could go on, but do we really have the time?  Get Serious, Mr. Obama.  In my lifetime, I have never seen one person inspire such optimism in so many people .  Did we all get duped?  All of the "hope" and "change" we were banking on now seems to be overshadowed by your favorite past time-  holding hands and skipping down the middle of the isle with the Republicans.   So I too have to plead Michael Moore's case, and ask Mr. Obama to please remove the tutu.  It certainly doesn't flatter you and it isn't helping anyone, especially those of us that were depending on you to do what you promised.  Please take it off and grow a pair to replace it.  I do think a set of hefty balls will serve you, and the people of this country much better.  Just sayin.
